The city of Mckinney is in the county seat of Collin County, Texas, and the second in population to Plano. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and is located about 37 miles north of Dallas.
Despite the rate of growth in McKinney, it still maintains a small town charm. Mckinney National Airport is also located in McKinney as well as the Central Campus of Collin College. But the jewel of McKinney is The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary.
There are always many things to do, see and experience at the Heard. The sanctuary, nature trails, native plant garden, education department, exhibits and collections, nature store and rental facilities provide visitors with an array of services and activities.
McKinney has a highly recognized school district McKinney is served primarily by the McKinney Independent School District, but some western areas of McKinney are zoned to nearby Frisco Independent School District and southern areas to Allen Independent School District.
